2×4 Aluminum In-Ground Mailbox Post — Rust-Free
2×4 Aluminum In-Ground Mailbox Post — Rust-Free
The Vsons Design 2×4 aluminum in-ground mailbox post offers a wider rectangular profile for added stability and a more substantial visual presence. Built from 3/16″ thick aluminum with a black powder-coat finish, it installs in concrete and positions your mailbox at the correct USPS height of 41–45 inches. The wider stance makes this post the right choice for exposed corner lots, high-wind locations, or larger post-mount mailboxes. Mounting hardware included. Concrete not included.
Compatible with Anthony, Jeremy, Eden B, and Era B post-mount mailboxes.

Aluminum vs. steel posts: Steel rusts. Even galvanized steel posts eventually corrode where the coating is scratched or where moisture pools at the base. Aluminum oxidizes on the surface and stops — it never degrades through the material. This post will not rust, stain, or structurally weaken over time.
The 3/16″ wall is thick enough to resist vehicle impact without becoming a rigid, dangerous pole — consistent with Federal Highway Administration guidelines for mailbox supports that yield on impact.
Finish: Black powder-coat, UV-stabilized. Designed to match Vsons Anthony (black), Jeremy (black), Eden B, and Era B mailboxes.
When should I choose the 2×4 post over the 2×2?
Choose the 2×4 when: (1) your install site is exposed to strong wind, (2) you're mounting the heavier Jeremy wide or Jeremy stainless model, or (3) you simply prefer a more substantial-looking post. The wider profile adds lateral rigidity without changing the height or mounting system.
What mailboxes does this post work with?
It's compatible with all Vsons post-mount mailboxes: Anthony (aluminum and stainless), Jeremy (aluminum and stainless), Eden B, and Era B. Mounting hardware for your mailbox is included.
Can this post be installed without concrete?
No — we recommend concrete for all in-ground posts. Packed dirt does not prevent frost heave or lateral movement. A single bag of quick-set concrete (~$8) is all you need. Full set time is 24 hours.
Does the finish match a black mailbox?
Yes. The black powder-coat finish on this post is the same process used on Vsons black aluminum mailboxes. They match directly without any color difference.
